About six months ago, we launched Sendcash in Nigeria as a way for people to send money to Nigerian bank accounts from anywhere in the world within minutes.

In this time, Sendcash has experienced a lot of growth and has facilitated over $6.5 million in transfers from all around the world. We have seen it used by people to send money to their family and friends, for business, for covid relief and for humanitarian aid in Nigeria.

Today, we’re excited to announce that we’re launching in Ghana!

Sendcash links your Ghanaian bank or Mobile money account to a Bitcoin wallet address and when anybody sends Bitcoin to that wallet address, the Cedi equivalent is automatically deposited into your bank account. The sender can buy and send Bitcoin from any platform such as Cash App or Coinbase.

With Sendcash, the recipient does not need to interact with Bitcoin. They will get credited with the Cedi equivalent to their bank account within minutes. So, yes, you can use Sendcash to send money to family and friends in Ghana who don’t know anything about Bitcoin.

It is fast, affordable and requires no sign-up. Just input the account number you want to send money to and you’re good to go.

We’re really excited about this because we believe that remittance is one of the biggest use cases for cryptocurrency because it has no geographical boundaries. This is another huge step towards fulfilling our mission of facilitating the borderless transfer of value across Africa.

If you have any feedback or questions about how it works, check out our help articles or email us at sendcash@buycoins.africa. You can start with Sendcash here or visit the Sendcash community to read or contribute.
