If you are planning to settle in the UK or become a British Citizen, you will need to pass the life in the UK test as part of the application process. This guide explains what the test is, who is eligible to take it, and how to book it.

What Is the Life in the UK Test?

The life in the UK test is a computer-based exam consisting of 24 questions that assess your knowledge of British life, history, and values. To pass the test, you must answer at least 18 questions correctly.

Eligibility Requirements.

You have to take the test if you:

  • Are between 18 - 65 years old.

  • Haven’t passed the test in the past.

  • Don’t have a long-term physical or mental condition.

How To Book the Test.

You must book a test centre on the UK government's website at least 3 days in advance to take this test. The cost of the test is 50 pounds, and you will need the following:

  • An email address

  • Accepted ID (usually your passport or biometric residence permit/card)

  • A debit or credit card.

Note: The only way to book your test is through the government's website. It is also recommended that you study the official handbook for the life in the UK test, as the test will be based on the information it contains.
