Every year, millions of Nigeria receive money from abroad for business and from family and friends outside the country. Despite the pandemic, remittances to Nigeria rose to $3.8 billion in the third quarter of 2020, up from $3.3 billion in the previous quarter
And fortunately, with the growing need for fast and affordable transfers, there have been major improvements in how Nigerians receive money from abroad. For example, you can send money to people in Nigeria from anywhere in the world in just a few minutes through Sendcash.
Since our launch in April 2020, we have processed thousands of transactions and received amazing reviews. One review that stood out was from someone who urgently needed to send money to Nigeria and was able to do so within five minutes through Sendcash.
However, sending money from Nigeria to other countries, particularly the US, is not as easy. Currently, people have to walk into a bank, wait in a queue, fill out several forms, and pay high fees to pay for tuition, send money to loved ones in the US or pay business partners.
To significantly improve this experience, we recently expanded our services to enable individuals and businesses in Nigeria to send money to the US from Nigeria right from their mobile phones.
Here’s how to send money from Nigeria to the US in 4 simple steps:
Step 1: Visit the Sendcash website.
Tap on the “Destination” drop-down to change it to the United States and tap on “Send cash”.
Sign in with your email and password if you already have a Sendcash account. If you don’t have an account yet, you’ll need to create one to proceed.
Step 2: Deposit Naira
After signing in, the next step is to fund your Sendcash naira balance.
Step 3: Enter your transfer details.
Return to the homepage after funding your balance to enter the dollar value of the amount you want to send and the details of the recipient you want to send money to.
Note: There is a flat transaction fee of $40.
Step 4: Tap Send.
You’ll get a message about the status of your transaction once you tap on the ‘Send’ button.
That’s all! You’ll receive an email notification once the transfer has been completed.
