In our last Borderless article, we interviewed Chris, a Sendcash user who recently moved to Nigeria and is now enabling young Nigerians to access remote jobs globally. This month, we have Fisayo, a Tech Business Analyst. She tells us about her job and what it's like to be a Nigerian millennial.

Hi Fisayo, tell me about yourself.

My name is Fisayo Ade. I live in Abuja, Nigeria. I have a 9-5 where I work as a Tech Business Analyst. I'm also a faith and lifestyle blogger; I like to create content that inspires and encourages people. For fun, I love to hang out with my close friends, eat good food (I'm a bit of a foodie) and watch a good movie.

Nice! Can you shed more light on what it means to be a Tech Business Analyst?

Being a tech Business Analyst means that you get to see something that was just an idea becoming a real-life digital product that provides solutions to real problems.

What do you like the most and least about your job?

Knowing that I'm an essential part of a process that brings quality ideas to life is very fulfilling. Seeing it come to life and be used by people is just a beautiful feeling!

Working with various stakeholders can be challenging, especially when it comes to obtaining sign-offs. It can be tedious, but as I'm growing in this field, I'm starting to understand how to do this seamlessly.

What’s it like for you being a Nigerian millennial in 2021?

Being a Nigerian millennial is like having a taste of both worlds. Seeing the world transform before your very eyes and the things you used to know fade away. Being a Nigerian millennial is the constant reminder of adulthood, responsibility, seeing all your friends getting engaged and married, and planning all the Asoebi bills in your head. It's dealing with FOMO when you really just want to stay at home and watch Netflix. It's asking yourself to japa or not?

Lmaoo. I really love your articulation of this.

Oh well…

Can you remember the first time you heard about Sendcash?

The first time I heard about Sendcash was from my friend, Marvin. I needed to send some cash to someone, and I only had that spare cash in Bitcoin. I also wasn't sure how to get that done, that was when he told me about Sendcash.

What was your first experience like using Sendcash?

I had to be walked through the process because I had never used it before, but it was very straightforward. And I was very happy that the cash got in pretty quick. It was a weekend, so I just assumed I wouldn't get an alert till Monday.

I'm glad you found the process seamless.

Yeah. I did.

What are the top three things you think someone looking to be a Tech Business Analyst should know?

First, you must have a growth and learning mindset - this means that you have to be willing to learn. You have to learn to build yourself, hone your skills, and more importantly, you must know and understand emerging technologies. Enhance your knowledge and communication skills. The world is constantly changing and evolving, and you can only correctly analyze what you understand.

Secondly, be open to feedback and correction. It's important because it helps you know where you are and what you need to do to get to where you need to be.

Lastly, I'd say don't limit yourself. Shoot your shot. Learn from people who have gone ahead of you. Be brave, and even when you make mistakes, don't be too hard on yourself.
